Meet Dr. Hagopian

Dr. Ben Hagopian is a board-certified family physician. He earned his MD, as well as a Masters in Public Health (MPH), from Case Western Reserve University (consistently rated a top tier medical school) in Cleveland, OH. He went on to train at Maine Medical Center for four years where he was selected to remain on as chief resident.

Dr. Hagopian’s desire to focus on health promotion and disease prevention rather than simply treating symptoms of a disease led him to do a fellowship in integrative medicine at Maine Medical Center and the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona.

After completing his extensive training, he spent 3 years working in Oxford County, providing primary and integrative care to rural Mainers.

After spending time learning about direct primary care and the value it brings to patients, he strongly believes that a focus on preventive lifestyle medicine, coupled with relationship-centered, personalized care and lower costs are the solution to our healthcare crisis.

Outside of his medical practice, Ben has a passion for healthcare system reform. He is a member of the New England Direct Primary Care Alliance and enjoys writing the occasional newspaper piece about health care and how to improve our system.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife, adorable son and daughter, and mischievous dog Ketchup; eating his way through Portland; exercising; being in nature; and supporting the Boston Celtics and the Maine Red Claws.

Due to a large influx of new patients, we have closed our practice to new patients at this time. If we’ve already spoken with you about a Meet & Greet or are a family member/close friend of a current patient, we are happy to bring you on. If you’d like to be added to the waitlist, please email us at hello@mainefamilycare.com. Please visit www.NEDPCA.org for other direct care doctors that are accepting patients.

Please be aware that our practice does not accept insurance (Taro Health is the exception) and we operate on a monthly subscription payment model.
